THE XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS ON FOREIGN NATIONALS IN SOUTH AFRICA PARTICULARLY NIGERIANS: THE POSITION OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA.

THE XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS ON FOREIGN NATIONALS IN SOUTH AFRICA PARTICULARLY NIGERIANS: THE POSITION OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA.

PRESS RELEASE

The National Youth Council of Nigeria has watched with dismay the continuous attacks on Nigerians in South Africa which has resulted to the death of countless of lives, destruction of properties worth millions of dollars, harassment and intimidations of Nigerians in the soil of Africa.

Xenophobic attacks are unacceptable anywhere around the world and especially in a country that has Africa in its official name, Whose National Anthem is GOD BLESS AFRICA; Whose ruling party is Africa National Congress and Whose National event starts with Africa Union Anthem.

We equally place on records the contribution of Nigeria during the time of Apartheid in South Africa. How Nigerians played a pivotal role in standing against imperialism of the whites to South Africans.

Because of these and other related issues, *The* *National* *Youth* *Council* *of* *Nigeria* demands as follows:

1, That the attacks of Nigerians in South Africa should stop immediately

2, That the South Africa Government must apologize to the Government of Nigeria and its Citizens on this dastardly acts of xenophobic attacks.

3, That the Government of South Africa must Guarantee the safety of Nigerians who are still willing to remain in South Africa for their legitimate businesses.

4, That the South Africa Government must assure the Government of Nigeria that there will be no further attack of any kind to Nigerians in South Africa.

On the other hand, the National Youth Council of Nigeria expects the Federal Government of Nigeria to:

1, Petition the Africa Union (AU) on the need to summon an Emergency meeting of the AU on xenophobic attacks on Africa Foreign Nationals in South Africa particularly Nigerians.

2, The Nigeria Government should set up a fact-finding committee to look at the immediate and remote cause of the xenophobic attacks and recommend appropriate steps to forestall further attacks.

3, The National Youth Council of Nigeria expects the Africa Union (AU) to design modalities to bring to an end, the attacks on Africa Foreign Nationals anywhere in the world

4, The National Youth Council of Nigeria expects the Federal Government of Nigeria to design a special business package that can woo business men and women in South Africa to return to Nigeria and start up same businesses in Nigeria

5, The Federal Government of Nigeria should discourage Nigerians from travelling to South Africa for greener Pasture by providing a conducive environment for Businesses to thrive.

Much as we agree that the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) is working assiduously in ensuring the safety of Nigerians in South Africa and anywhere in the world, We call on all Youth of Nigeria to remain law abiding and peaceful as we assure young people of our resolve in promoting peace, unity and progress of all irrespective of Nationality.

To keep the records straight, the National Youth Council of Nigeria will not negotiate with the South Africa High Commissioner and the National Youth Council of Nigeria will dissociate itself from the so-called leaders of the council who went to negotiate the lives of Nigerians for money.

However, we commend the President of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) for his leadership disposition on the matter.

Finally, as patriotic citizens of Nigeria, we will continue to follow happenings in South Africa as it concerns xenophobic attacks and any other issue relating to this matter.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA
GOD BLESS AFRICA
GOD BLESS AFRICA UNION

UNABATED XENOPHOBIC ATTACK ON NIGERIA IN SOUTH-AFRICA: THE NEED TO CUT ALL TIES

In melancholy National Youth Council of Nigeria lament the continuous killings of foreigners in South Africa mostly who are Nigerians, the barbaric act has become more ritualistic than xenophobic. Itโ€™s quite unfortunate that the South African Government is a conspirator in the inhumane killing of fellow Africans by her citizens.

The agony of watching fellow Nigerians gruesomely murdered in a fellow African country and the pain of seeing Nigerians Nationals degraded below animals is beyond our emotional ingest, as such the need to act accordingly. National Youth Council of Nigeria calls on all Nigerians in South Africa to start coming back home with immediate alacrity.

We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to make provision for all Nigerians in South Africa to return home as a matter of urgency, providing the necessary support for the victims to get back to their feet. The Government of Nigeria should also cut all diplomatic ties with the South Africa Government, for a nation that does not respect our nationals deserve neither our diplomatic cooperation nor engagement.

Being the apex Youth Body in Nigeria we request the South Africa High Commissioner to Nigeria, return back to his country with his entire nationals within 48 working hours, we shall not hesitate to occupy the South Africa Consulate with a full capacity if our request is overlooked. South Africans deserve no diplomatic relationship with Nigerians as much as they donโ€™t respect our nation.

In the spirit of being responsible people in spite of the anger, we call on Nigerians to desist attacking shops perceived to be South Africa establishment; most of these establishments are franchise own by Nigerians why some have Nigerians as the largest shareholders. Nigerian Law has made it difficult for a foreigner to own a company in Nigeria one hundred percent.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria ably piloted by Amb. Sukubo SaraIgbe Sukubo vow to protect the interest of Nigeria Youths as contained in the mandate given to us, as such South Africa High Commissioner must return back home or have Nigeria Youth to contend with.
